“If you don’t look around once in a while, you might miss it.” – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
That is basically what About Something Around is all about! We write about whatever interesting or beautiful we find around us. Living in Leuven, Belgium we discovered that there was so much beauty around us that a lot of people take for granted and simply walk past whereas when you take a moment and appreciate it, or discover the story behind it, you realize that there is often so much amazing stuff around you! We hope that our blog can inspire you to go out and discover the amazing world that is out there! It can be something right down the road from where you live or on the other side of the world!
Since the beginning of About Something Around in August 2016, we have been discovering a ton of locations. In Belgium alone we have been all over the country. From the Abbey of Orval in the most southern tip of the country to the graveyards of Flanders Fields all up north! We did a road trip all around the gorgeous island of Iceland, visited our tiny neighbour Luxembourg, went to Málaga, one of the sunniest places of Europe, visited the curious ministate Gibraltar, spent a week Down Under in Sydney, discovered snowy Lithuania in winter and had some trips to the Netherlands to Amsterdam, Utrecht and Baarle-Nassau. Our biggest adventure so far has been travelling around New Zealand for a couple of months on a Working Holiday Visa.
Now, you might be wondering who is behind About Something Around: we are Thomas & Lynn, a Belgian couple with a ton of wanderlust and curiousity! Thomas has a degree in both history as well as cultural studies, whereas Lynn has a degree in tourism and recreation management and is currently working as a travel agent. This combination mixed with our great passion and desire to explore gives us the perfect background for About Something Around! Hope you enjoy our tales!
Don’t forget to follow our blog by email and check out our Instagram, YouTube and Facebook for regular updates! You can always send us a message to say hello or to give us some interesting travel tips and ideas! And remember: take a look around once in a while!
PS: All pictures are ours and all of our content is based upon our own opinions and experiences.

What a great looking blog you have! Many thanks for visiting my blog, much appreciated. Belgium is one place I am yet to visit although my husband has. My really serious back packing days are now behind me, I still love the sense of adventure and discovering something new for myself. The key to travel is to be open to experiences and create your own unique travel tales that are not a carbon copy of someone else’s.

My wife and i have been absolutely comfortable that Albert could conclude his preliminary research via the ideas he got out of your blog. It’s not at all simplistic to just be offering methods which some other people could have been making money from. We remember we now have the blog owner to thank for this. The most important illustrations you made, the simple blog menu, the friendships you make it easier to engender – it’s many terrific, and it is leading our son and our family reason why this topic is satisfying, and that is very important. Thanks for the whole lot!
